New pesticide references are anything but standard!

Date: 27 October 2005

LGC Promochem launches an innovative new range of affordable, flexible pesticide reference standards from ULTRA Scientific.

LGC Promochem, Europe’s leading supplier of reference materials and analytical standards, has launched a new, extremely flexible range of pesticide standards. The new standards, from ULTRA’s New Catalogue Customs range, are semi-customised reference standards that are available at catalogue prices, with off-the-shelf shipping times. Users can have their chosen pesticides delivered in one of four solvents, at either of two possible concentrations and in one of four packaging options.

There are over 550 neat pesticides in the range which can be dissolved in either acetonitrile, cyclohexane, iso-octane or methanol at a final concentration of 10 or 100 ug/ml.* Users can then choose to have their pesticide standard packaged in a 1ml ampoule or three possible sizes of CERTAN® bottle. The CERTAN® bottle, designed exclusively by LGC Promochem, is ideal for the long-term, secure storage of reference standards, as it combines the advantages of a sealed ampoule with the flexibility of a screw-top bottle or septum vial. The 28mm long capillary works as a recondensation zone, minimising the loss of volatile organic solvents and reducing the surface area in the cap to ensure a perfect seal and a long life.

The New Catalogue Customs range was developed by US-based ULTRA Scientific as a direct result of feedback from customers about the problems of working with reference standards. Traditionally, pesticide standards have been available either off-the-shelf, which is cost-effective but the choice is limited, or fully customised, which offers a wider choice but involves much longer preparation times and higher costs. The New Catalogue Customs range provides another alternative and offers a new way for laboratories to get exactly what they need at an affordable price. * Please note that not all solvents and analytes are compatible. Should this happen, customers are contacted to determine an alternative combination.
